Senior Advisor of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, Mohsen Rezaee, today issued a strong warning to US President Donald Trump over repeated threats of military action against Iran, declaring that “iron fist of Iran’s armed forces will force the US to retreat and surrender.”

The sharp exchange comes at a time of renewed uncertainty in West Asia, where fears of a wider regional confrontation have intensified amid ongoing diplomatic efforts involving Gulf nations and backchannel talks between US officials and Iran.

In a strongly worded message posted on X, Mohsen Rezaee criticised Donald Trump for publicly discussing military action against Iran and then delaying it, in ‘vain hope’ of trying to pressure Tehran into submission through threats.

“He sets a deadline for a military strike and then cancels it himself! With this vain hope of making the Iranian nation and officials surrender! The iron fist of the powerful armed forces and the great Iranian nation will force them to retreat and surrender,” Mohsen Rezaee said.

The remarks marked one of the strongest public warnings from a senior Iranian figure since tensions escalated again over the possibility of US military action in the region.

Donald Trump says attack on Iran ‘put off’

Donald Trump on Monday confirmed that a planned US attack on Iran had been temporarily delayed as discussions involving several Gulf countries gathered momentum.

Speaking to reporters, the US President said Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and other regional players had urged Washington to pause military action for a few days, claiming negotiations with Iran were moving in a positive direction.

“I put it off for a little while, hopefully maybe forever, but possibly for a little while because we’ve had very big discussions with Iran,” Donald Trump said.

He added that Gulf nations believed a diplomatic breakthrough could still be achieved and said he was willing to avoid military escalation if negotiations succeeded.

“I was asked by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, and some others if we could put it off for two or three days because they think they are getting very close to making a deal,” he said.

West Asia tensions remain on edge

The verbal confrontation between Mohsen Rezaee and Donald Trump has once again pushed the fragile West Asia situation into the spotlight, with global attention focused on whether diplomacy can still prevent a larger military escalation.

While negotiations appear to be continuing behind the scenes, the exchange of threats and warnings from both sides signals that tensions remain dangerously high despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.
