All India Trinamool Congress Party chief and former chief minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee on Monday congratulated the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) government in Kerala after VD Satheesan took oath as the state’s new Chief Minister.
In a message posted on her WhatsApp channel, Banerjee extended her best wishes to the newly-sworn-in administration and expressed hope for its success in serving the people of Kerala.

“Congratulations to the UDF government led by Chief Minister @vdsatheesan on taking oath in Kerala today. Wishing the new government great success in their service to the people of Kerala,” Banerjee said.
Satheesan was sworn in as Kerala’s 13th Chief Minister during a high-profile ceremony at Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, marking the return of a Congress-led United Democratic Front government after a decade. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by senior national leaders, state ministers and political representatives from across the country.
Banerjee’s message is being viewed as politically significant in the light of her recent efforts to rebuild opposition unity following the Trinamool Congress’s defeat to the Bharatiya Janata Party in the recently concluded West Bengal Assembly elections.
Earlier this month, Banerjee had publicly indicated her willingness to work more closely with opposition parties to counter the BJP nationally. “Enemy’s enemy is my friend; our first enemy is the BJP,” she had remarked, a statement widely interpreted as a signal towards greater coordination within the INDIA bloc, including the Left and the Congress.
Political observers noted that her congratulatory message to the Kerala government reflects a broader attempt to revive opposition cooperation at a time when regional parties and the Congress are reassessing strategies ahead of future electoral contests.
The Congress-led UDF’s return to power in Kerala is expected to have implications beyond the state, particularly in the evolving dynamics of opposition politics at the national level. The new government under Satheesan is expected to focus on governance reforms, welfare delivery, employment generation and infrastructure development in the coming months.
