According to the complainants, a 17-second clip circulating on social media contains abusive and insulting remarks targeting women. They alleged that the dialogue used in the scene was offensive and amounted to an attack on the dignity and respect of women.
The advocates demanded immediate registration of an FIR against Yograj Singh and other persons associated with the series, alleging that such statements hurt public sentiments and violated women’s rights and dignity.
In their complaint, the advocates stated that the language used in the clip was “shameful, insulting and indecent” and argued that the remarks were especially concerning because they were delivered by a public figure with national recognition.
They further said that such statements were contrary to the values of equality and respect associated with Sikh teachings and urged authorities to initiate strict legal action in the matter.
The controversial clip has reportedly been taken from an episode of the Hindi web series “Lukkhe”, which was released on Amazon Prime Video on May 8, 2026. In the scene, Yograj Singh’s character, identified as “Walia Sahab”, is seen inside a police station interacting with police officers before making the alleged objectionable remarks about women.
No response from Yograj Singh had been issued till the filing of this report.
Yograj Singh has earlier courted controversy over several public statements. In September 2024, he alleged in an interview that former India captain MS Dhoni had harmed Yuvraj Singh’s cricketing career, a statement that sparked widespread debate. He later apologised publicly in April 2026.
In January 2025, Yograj Singh had also claimed during an interview that he once went to the residence of former India captain Kapil Dev carrying a firearm with the intention of confronting him, though he later said he stepped back after seeing Kapil Dev’s mother.
He had also drawn criticism over remarks related to women, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Hindi-speaking men, and comments concerning the careers of cricketers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
