A woman was allegedly gang-raped inside a private bus in Delhi’s Nangloi area after she was reportedly pulled into the moving vehicle by two men who approached her on the pretext of asking for the time, police said on Wednesday.

The incident has triggered fresh concern over women’s safety in the national capital, with police saying the woman was allegedly assaulted for nearly two hours inside the bus before the accused let her go. Based on her complaint, Delhi Police registered an FIR at Nangloi Police Station and arrested both accused.

According to the police, the bus allegedly used in the crime has also been seized as part of the investigation.

Police officials said the woman approached them with allegations that the two men forcibly took her inside the vehicle and sexually assaulted her while the bus was on the move in the Nangloi area.

Police seize bus, probe underway

Delhi Police said the case was registered immediately after the complaint was received and both accused were taken into custody.

“The police have registered a case of the alleged gangrape of a woman on a private bus in Delhi. The case has been registered based on the woman’s complaint. The police have arrested both accused individuals. The Delhi Police have also seized the bus used in the incident. Police are investigating the case from every possible angle,” Delhi Police said.

Investigators are now examining all aspects linked to the incident, including the movement of the vehicle and the sequence of events described in the complaint.
