Two women from the North-East were allegedly physically assaulted and molested by a few men in the Nehru Place area of the national capital. Delhi Police has registered First Information Report (FIR) in connection with the matter.

As per the FIR registered at Kalkaji Police Station, the incident took place at around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 10, outside a club in Nehru Place.

In their complaints, the victim have stated that the boys started catcalling them when they were having tea outside the club. Soon after, more people joined and allegedly started provoking a fight and physically assaulting them, ANI reported.

According to the FIR, the women have alleged that one of them was molested and her clothes were torn during the incident.

Further, it has been stated that the accused allegedly used racist slurs, calling them inappropriate language. They are also believed to have attacked a woman with a bamboo stick while they were trying to escape.

The complainants have claimed that the accused blocked their way and even threatened them with consequences if they disclosed details of the incident.

A PCR call regarding the incident was received at the Kalkaji Police Station, official said. After this, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to assault, molestation, wrongful restraint, criminal intimidation and acts endangering life.

The two women said that they will be able to identify the accused if produced before them.

Police officials informed that the two women were taken to AIIMS for medical examinations, while CCTV footage from nearby areas was analysed. Also, witnesses, including passersby, were identified by cops.

At least eight of these witnesses were rounded up and questioned. This ultimately led to the identification of four accused.

Police is now conducting raids to trace and apprehend them.
