At least 14 people were killed in two separate accidents in Uttar Pradesh.

While six people were killed and four seriously injured in a road accident in Jalaun in the Bundelkhand region, another eight people were crushed to death by a car in Ambedkar Nagar.

According to police, in Jalaun, the accident occurred in Jolhupur, near Kalpi, on the Jhansi–Kanpur National Highway when an SUV met with an accident.

The SUV occupants were returning to Lalitpur after visiting Ayodhya. The accident was so devastating that the vehicle was severely damaged, and all the passengers were trapped inside. Police had to cut open the car’s doors to rescue the injured.

All the injured were taken to hospital, where doctors declared six of them dead. Police are working to identify the deceased.

Meanwhile, eight people were crushed to death by a speeding car in the Jalalpur area of the district at midnight on Sunday.

Police said on Monday that the incident occurred when people were helping the injured after a head-on collision between two motorcycles near Ashrafpur on the Akbarpur road under the Jalalpur Kotwali police station area around 12:00 am.

In the meantime, a speeding Swift Dzire car ran over the people present at the spot and overturned into a ditch, injuring around eight others.

Upon receiving the information, police rushed the injured to the Community Health Centre, where doctors declared six of them brought dead. The remaining two were referred to the Government Medical College, Sadarpur, where they also succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

Police have identified six of the victims. One of the deceased is believed to be the driver of the four-wheeler.

Dr Jaiveer Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police, stated that all the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination and their families have been informed.

The deceased have been identified as Uttam (24), Aditya (25), Chhotu alias Divyansh (14), Raju Gupta (32), Lalchand (24), and Kaifi (32).
