The grieving father of the Pune rape and murder victim has made a demand for justice, saying the accused should be given the death penalty without delay. Speaking through a video message on Sunday, he said the family is going through unbearable pain and does not want any political visits at this time.

He shared that the family was in Dehu for the immersion of his daughter’s ashes when he received calls from relatives and friends. They informed him that several politicians were planning to visit their home to offer condolences. This, he said, was not acceptable to the family right now.

In his message, he clearly stated that no political leader should come to their home until justice is fully delivered. He said the family’s only wish is that the accused “monster” is hanged for the crime. He added that once the accused is given capital punishment, they will be open to meeting anyone who wants to meet them, but not before that moment.

The crime that shocked Pune

The incident has that shook Bhor Taluka area of Pune involves the brutal rape and murder of a four-year-old girl. According to reports, the child went missing in the afternoon, which immediately triggered panic in her family. They began searching for her across the area.

After a desperate search, the worst fear came true. The child’s mutilated and blood-covered body was found.

Police investigations quickly moved forward with the help of CCTV footage from the area. The footage reportedly showed a 65-year-old man, the accused, taking the child with him. This evidence helped police identify and detain him soon after.

The accused has now been taken into custody, and a detailed investigation is underway.

Government response, protests and push for fast-track trial

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also handles the Home Department, strongly condemned the incident. He called it a “blot on humanity”.

He directed Pune Rural Police to ensure a watertight case. The Chief Minister also announced that the trial will be conducted in a Fast-Track Court to ensure speedy justice.

He assured citizens that all facts of the case will be revealed soon and said the government will seek the death penalty for the accused. According to him, this strict action is necessary to set an example and prevent such crimes in the future.

To strengthen security, he also ordered increased police patrolling in the Bhor region so that residents can feel safer. After protests broke out in Nasrapur, senior police officers, including the Superintendent of Police of Pune Rural, have been put in charge of closely monitoring the investigation.
