Three dead, four missing as car plunges into Ganga
Three people died and four others went missing after an Innova SUV they were travelling in plunged into River Ganga on Tuesday.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has asked Centre to complete the Indo Nepal Border Land Port in the state soon for the convenience of the local public. He raised the issue in a meeting with chairman Land Port Authority of India Jayant Singh on Monday in Delhi.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has asked Centre to complete the Indo Nepal Border Land Port in the state soon for the convenience of the local public. He raised the issue in a meeting with chairman Land Port Authority of India Jayant Singh on Monday in Delhi.
Dhami asked the Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI) to complete all the ongoing infrastructure projects, meant for the convenience of local residents in border areas within the stipulated time. He focussed mainly on the under-construction project of Land Port at Banbasa in the Champawat district bordering Nepal.

In the meeting with the LPAI chairman, he reviewed the progress of the land port project and asked Singh to ensure timely completion of the land port along with other ongoing projects in time currently under construction at the India-Nepal border in the Banbasa (Gudmi) area of Champawat district. The chief minister said that the Banbasa land port project will help create global connectivity by linking the border areas with the Asian highway.

He stated that development works in border areas should be advanced prioritising local needs and interests of the local public. It leads to better promotion of local products and boosts the economy of the region. Dhami informed the LPAI chief that the land port will provide a better market for the products of border areas and ensure the ease of access with immense employment opportunities for the local public.
The chief minister held detailed discussions on strengthening of border trade and public movement on both sides of the border and infrastructure in the Dharchula and Jhulaghat areas of Pithoragarh district of Indo-Nepal border.
