Former Kerala MLA and AICC member Anil Akkara filed a formal complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Sunday, alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi violated the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) through his recent address to the nation, and sought immediate intervention by the poll panel.

Former Kerala MLA and AICC member Anil Akkara filed a formal complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Sunday, alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi violated the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) through his recent address to the nation, and sought immediate intervention by the poll panel.

Anil Akkara, in his complaint, accused the Prime Minister of using the national broadcaster, Doordarshan, and Sansad TV for “politicking” while the campaign phase for Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal is winding down.

The complaint highlights that the PM’s speech influences public opinion on issues currently under active political contestation.

The Congress leader also sought immediate intervention of the poll panel in the matter.
