Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended greetings to the people of Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of Himachal Day, praising the state’s rich cultural legacy and the character of its people.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “Warm greetings to all the people of Himachal on Himachal Day. This sacred land of the gods holds a unique identity due to its rich traditions, unparalleled cultural heritage, and the diligence, sense of duty, and humility of its people.” He added, “On this auspicious occasion, I wish a bright and prosperous future for all families in the state.”

Himachal Day, observed annually on April 15, commemorates the formation of Himachal Pradesh as a province in 1948 after the integration of several princely states. The hill state later achieved full statehood in 1971, and the day is marked by official ceremonies, cultural programmes and widespread public participation.
Popularly known as ‘Dev Bhoomi’ or the land of gods, Himachal Pradesh is celebrated for its scenic beauty, ancient temples and vibrant traditions shaped by diverse cultural influences. The occasion reflects both the state’s historical evolution and its developmental journey over the decades.
The Prime Minister’s message comes amid celebrations across the state, with people participating in cultural events and community gatherings, expressing pride in their heritage and hope for continued progres.
