Senior Congress leader Benny Behannan, MP, came out against the chief minister aspirants in Kerala involved in the discussions and campaigns, including on social media, on the top post.
Benny Behanan told the media here on Tuesday that there should be no discussion on the chief minister’s post on social media.

He urged the Congress high command to intervene in the matter and stop the ongoing social media campaigns and debates regarding the selection of the next Chief Minister in Kerala.

Stating that social media should not be allowed to decide the post of chief minister, Behannan said the current discussions are painful and the campaign will cause pain to UDF workers. This kind of campaign will spoil the glory of the upcoming victory. “A strong campaign to decide the chief ministers is going on on social media and this has caused great pain and difficulty in the minds of the people who tried to bring the United Democratic Front (UDF)to power. The chief minister should be decided by the party, not through social media,” Behnan said.
He said he has written to the Congress high command, noting that such discussions have been going on for days and the state leadership failed to curb them. He clarified that while he is not naming any individual, certain groups are running specific campaigns to keep their preferred names in the media spotlight, which he deems unhealthy for the party. But His remarks are seen as a critique of the digital campaigns supporting top contenders like V D Satheesan, Ramesh Chennithala, and KPCC Venugopal.
