Leader of Opposition in the Bihar assembly and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday accused the BJP of “finishing” JDU leader Nitish Kumar, who tendered his resignation as chief minister, paving the way for his deputy and BJP leader Samrat Choudhary to take over the reins.
Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Yadav also called the newly elected Leader of the BJP Legislative Party, Samrat Choudhary, a product of his father and RJD veteran Lalu Yadav’s school.

“Samrat Choudhary is a product of Lalu Yadav’s classroom. Bihar’s politics will continue to revolve around Lalu Yadav…,” Tejashwi said.
When asked about the future prospects of Bihar under Samrat Choudhary, Yadav said that the saffron party was in power in the state alongside JDU for 20 years, yet Bihar remains the poorest state in the country.
“The BJP, too, governed alongside them (NDA) for 20 years. Yet, Bihar’s treasury remains empty. There is unemployment, people are still forced to migrate and the state remains the poorest,” he remarked.
Claiming that Samrat Choudhary is not a Chief Minister chosen by the people, Yadav further alleged that the BJP has finished Nitish Kumar.
“This is not a Chief Minister chosen by the people of Bihar. The mandate was not given by the public… ‘Nitish ji ko BJP ne khatam kar diya toh vo ab khatam ho gaye hain (BJP has finished Nitish ji, he is now finished),” he added.
His remarks came shortly after Nitish Kumar dissolved the Cabinet and tendered his resignation. Within hours, BJP elected Samrat Choudhary as its Legislative Party Leader in Bihar.
With his election as the Legislative Party Leader, Choudhary is all set to become the first Chief Minister of BJP in Bihar.
