Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday visited the aggrieved families of those who lost their lives in the fire tragedy in the Palam area of Delhi and assured them all help from her government.

Speaking on the occasion, Rekha Gupta called the untimely demise of innocent people, including children, is extremely distressing and heart-wrenching. She conveyed her deepest condolences to the families and assured that the government stands in full solidarity with them during their hour of distress.

“The pain of losing loved ones is unbearable, something that cannot be expressed in words,” she wrote on social media platform X.

The chief minister has assured that the government is fully committed to providing the affected families every possible assistance, relief, and support.
Earlier, the government had ordered a magisterial inquiry into the cause of the fire and determine how commercial goods, such as cosmetics and clothes, were being stored in a residential building.

The inquiry examine potential safety violations and the legality of using the premises for commercial storage which contributed to the rapid spread of the blaze.
Gupta had earlier announced a financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each to the next of kin of those adults who lost their lives in the tragedy, Rs 5 lakh each to the families of deceased minors, and Rs 2 lakh each to the seriously injured.
