The Managing Director of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), Jitender Yadav, declined to comment after a fatal accident involving a DTC bus left two people dead on Monday.
When contacted by The Statesman, Yadav responded briefly, saying “no comments” when asked about the incident and the necessary action.

Yadav, an IAS officer from the 2010 AGMUT cadre, was appointed Managing Director of the Delhi Transport Corporation in September 2025 with the additional charge of Special Commissioner (Transport) in the Government of Delhi. In his role, he oversees road safety, enforcement operations including scrapping and Pollution Control Device (PCD) matters, bus operations and transport management, issues related to Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS), route rationalisation, and overall coordination within the transport department. He previously served as Additional Commissioner in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

Fatal bus accident claimed two lives
Earlier in the day, a DTC bus crushed a youth riding a scooter and also collided with an e-rickshaw, resulting in two deaths. The scooter rider died instantly, while injured persons were rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital for treatment. Police confirmed that two people lost their lives in the incident. The bus driver has been arrested, and an investigation into the accident is currently underway.
Locals set bus on fire
The accident sparked a strong reaction from locals, who gathered at the scene in protest. In the ensuing chaos, the DTC bus involved in the crash was set ablaze.
The police have arrested the driver. Further investigation is ongoing.
