The controversy surrounding the Delhi Gymkhana Club is no longer only about one institution in Lutyens’ Delhi.
As a Special Court in Delhi discharged all 23 accused in the Delhi liquor police case, including former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, the Aam Aadmi Party has described it as a victory of the truth.
Several AAP leaders, including Kejriwal and Sisodia, said the verdict has exposed the conspiracy hatched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to weaken the AAP.

They also claimed that the CBI did not have a shred of evidence in the cases and the court order had proved that Kejriwal and Sisodia are honest.

Manish Sisodia
Sisodia, who was also acquitted in the alleged scam, described it as an important day in Indian politics.
“Narendra Modi ji was hatching a conspiracy with the strength of ED and CBI just to be in power; that conspiracy has been foiled. The SC had already said that the case won’t stand the trial. Today, the judge said the same. An inquiry has been set up on the CBI officer. BJP should admit that they were lying,” the AAP leader said.
Former CM Atishi
Atishi, who took over the chair of Delhi CM briefly after Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest in the case, described the AAP as a staunchly honest party.
“Aam Aadmi Party ek kattar imaandaar party hai, Arvind Kejriwal aur Manish Sisodia kattar imaandaar neta hain. It is proven today how agencies of the Central government conspired and levelled allegations at the AAP. The truth about PM Modi and the BJP has come out before the country today,” she stated.

AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said truth always wins and it cannot be defeated.
“The judgment proves PM and HM had hatched a detailed conspiracy to defame the popular and honest CM Arvind Kejriwal, a capable and honest Education Minister Manish Sisodia, and our party. False cases were fabricated against the leaders of AAP. PM should apologise to the country, Arvind Kejriwal and his family. Truth can never be defeated; truth always triumphs,” he said.
Gopal Rai
AAP leader Gopal Rai said, “The court order has proved that the Central government, the BJP and the PM conspired to murder democracy, finish the Aam Aadmi Party and commit a crime by putting a sitting CM behind bars. Today’s judgment has given a ray of hope to those who are in favour of democracy. The historic decision given by the court proves that justice still prevails in the country.”
Saurabh Bharadwaj
Saurabh Bharadwaj said the verdict is a lesson to those who harass the honest.
“This is not a victory for Arvind Kejriwal or Manish Sisodia but for those who want to remain sincere and honest. An environment has been created in the country today where honest officials are harassed. Due to this judgement, 5 to 10 per cent IAS officers, judiciary will remain honest. CBI will first go to its father, Modi ji. IOs who send honest people to jail in fake cases should be hanged till death in public at India Gate. If we get to form a government, we will bring a law regarding this,” he stated.

What BJP, other Opposition parties said
Reactions also poured in from other side of the political spectrum.
Congress
Congress leader Pawan Khera called the court verdict as “not surprising at all”.
“This is what the BJP does before every election. If it suits them to weaken the Congress, they will strengthen Congress’s rivals. That is what they did in the past as well,” Khera said.
K Kavitha
Telangana Jagruthi President K Kavitha, who was also among the accused who were discharged, said she had nothing to do with the case.
“I have 100 times said that we have nothing to do with this case. This is a politically motivated case. As a part of a political vendetta, this case has been put on the Opposition parties and I am thankful to the judiciary that they have upheld our faith in the judiciary of this country. Today, the judiciary has cut through this entire web of lies. Truth can be hidden, but it can never be defeated. Who will account for the time that I lost with my kids? Who will account for the time that I lost with my family?” she asked.
BJP
The BJP described the acquittals as a technical matter.
BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi said, “The court has acquitted him due to lack of evidence. This is a technical issue. CBI will take the next step in this case. The party will give a structured response after studying the judgment in detail. One must think – if the charges were baseless, then how were the charges framed?”
