Actress-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt recently celebrated a very special birthday, and it wasn’t just about turning 54. The Bollywood star took to Instagram to mark what she called her “10th birthday sober”.

In a glowing Instagram post, Pooja shared a serene picture of herself holding a rose, with soft sunrays illuminating her face in a golden hue. Alongside the image, she penned a note, thanking fans for the “tsunami of love” she received on her birthday.

“Yesterday was special for more reasons than one… the tsunami of love received from all of you, for which I am truly grateful. The privilege of turning 54,” she wrote. She continued, “But mostly, for the milestone of it being my 10th Birthday SOBER. 54 yrs of being. 10 years of TRULY living. Gratitude to the Universe for everything and more. #sobrietyrocks.”

A legacy in Bollywood

Pooja Bhatt, daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and half-sister of actress Alia Bhatt, first made her mark on screen with the television film ‘Daddy’ in 1989. However, it was her breakthrough role in the romantic comedy ‘Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin’ (1991) that catapulted her to fame, becoming her highest-grossing release.

Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Pooja earned critical acclaim for films such as ‘Sadak’, ‘Junoon’, ‘Naaraaz’, ‘Angrakshak’, ‘Chaahat’, ‘Tamanna’, ‘Border’, ‘Kabhi Na Kabhi’, ‘Angaaray’, ‘Zakhm’.

Following this period of intense work, she took a hiatus but returned intermittently to the screen, balancing both acting and filmmaking.

Recent projects

Fans recently spotted Pooja in R Balki’s thriller ‘Chup: Revenge of the Artist’, which also stars Sunny Deol, Dulquer Salmaan, Shreya Dhanwanthary. Set in Mumbai, the film revolves around a serial killer who targets corrupt film critics while a determined police officer works to stop the spree.

In addition to acting, Pooja also stepped into reality TV spotlight as contestant on controversial show ‘Bigg Boss OTT 2’. The season concluded with Elvish Yadav winning and Abhishek Malhan as the runner-up.
