Ameesha Patel hit with non-bailable warrant in Moradabad over 2017 cheque bounce case; legal showdown looms
Ameesha Patel has responded to reports of a decade-old legal dispute, calling the allegations false. Her lawyers plan to file criminal proceedings against the complainant while she focuses on her work.
Bollywood actor Ameesha Patel is back in the legal spotlight, this time over decade-old event dispute that has resurfaced in a Moradabad court.
Known for her hits like ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’ and ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’, Ameesha now finds herself dealing with fresh headlines for cheque and wedding booking saga dating back to 2017.
Reports emerged on Monday that a Moradabad court has issued a non-bailable warrant against Ameesha in connection with a cheque bounce complaint filed by Pawan Kumar Verma, a Moradabad-based event organiser.

The case is linked to a wedding performance she was allegedly booked for on November 16, 2017.
According to the complaint, Pawan Verma had paid an advance of ₹14.50 lakh to Ameesha and arranged her hotel accommodation on Delhi Road, Moradabad. However, the actor did not show up for the event.
The organiser claimed that Ameesha promised to return the advance after the no-show, but apparently, the matter remained unresolved for years.
The court reportedly issued the warrant because Ameesha did not appear for a scheduled hearing on Monday. She has now been instructed to appear before the Moradabad court on March 27.
Ameesha breaks her silence
Reacting to the media buzz, Ameesha took to her Instagram Stories to set the record straight. She insisted that the case is “an old and settled matter” and accused Pawan Verma of making false allegations.

“Media reports suggest certain proceedings at Moradabad by one Pawan Verma. I wish to inform all that this is a very old matter in which the said Pawan Verma had signed a settlement deed and received the entire agreed amount,” she wrote.
She further added, “Despite this, it seems he has lodged proceedings making false allegations. My lawyers are initiating appropriate criminal proceedings of cheating against this person to expose his lies while I prefer to focus on my work and ignore people who choose to make a public spectacle for gaining attention on false pretexts.”
Ameesha Patel’s legal troubles
This isn’t Ameesha’s first brush with cheque-related legal drama. Back in 2023, she surrendered before the Ranchi Civil Court in connection with a 2018 cheque bounce case.
The case involved businessman Ajay Kumar Singh, owner of Lovely World Entertainment, who had invested in a film project with Ameesha. The film never released, and Ajay demanded the return of ₹2.50 crore.
Though she issued a cheque to settle the amount, it bounced, leading to legal action.
Even earlier, in November 2021, Ameesha made headlines when her cheque of ₹32.25 lakh to UTF Telefilms bounced.
