Pilgrims coming to Badrinath will not be allowed to carry cameras or mobile phones with them beyond the main entrance of Singhdwar, nearly 100 metres ahead of the temple sanctum sanctorum, in chardham pilgrimage 2026. The decision was taken on Saturday to maintain the sanctity of the shrine and manage crowds at the temple premises during pilgrimage season.

The decision to ban camera and mobile phones was taken in a meeting held to take stock of the preparations for the upcoming chardham pilgrimage under the leadership of Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey. Sharing the information, Pandey said a formal order in this regard would be issued by the Chamoli district administration.

Garhwal Commissioner issued strict instructions to the Chamoli district administration to establish a system for depositing mobile phones of the pilgrims at the shrine safely. According to the officials present in the meeting, the decision was taken in the wake of rising complaints owing to disputes triggered by the people making reels and vlogs at Badrinath temple campus.

Pandey asked the authorities to create counters for the pilgrims to deposit their phones and cameras before entering temple premises at Singhdwar nearly 100 meters away from sanctum sanctorum.
