Arun Vijay and Siddhi Idnani seek divine blessings
Before the big release, Arun Vijay and Siddhi Idnani, who plays the female lead, visited the Arulmigu Vennankodi Muniappan Temple in Salem to seek blessings. Arun Vijay shared glimpses of their temple visit on his X (formerly Twitter) timeline, captioning: “Took the blessings from Arulmigu Vennankodi Muniappan Temple #Salem… #RettaThala in two days!! #RettaThala from December 25th.”
Double trouble: Arun Vijay in two roles | Retta Thala trailer
One of the biggest talking points of ‘Retta Thala’ is Arun Vijay playing two distinct characters. The recently released trailer hints at a story layered with romance, revenge, and intense action.
It opens with a voiceover saying: “People say a collection of happy memories is a good life. Whether it’s my life or my memories, I was happy only when I was with Andre.”
Here, Andre refers to Siddhi Idnani’s character. Andre, in a breezy, life-affirming tone, adds: “We live only once, we should live to the fullest.”
Just when it seems like a romantic storyline, the trailer throws a curveball. Tanya Ravichandran’s character sets up a revenge-driven plot with a chilling line: “I will gift this blank cheque to whoever kills the killer of my husband.”
Adding to the suspense, Hareesh Peradi’s character ominously warns: “From this day on, his days are numbered.”
Arun Vijay’s own character faces a life-or-death challenge, saying: “Death is laughing at me, saying, ‘I have surrounded you.’ It’s me against death. This will be a fight to the finish.”
Shades of grey in every character
In an earlier exclusive interview with IANS, Arun Vijay described the film as: “A gripping action thriller that will be about what happens when the shades of grey in all individuals start to show simultaneously.”
He also revealed the names of his dual roles: Malpe Upendra and Kali, adding another layer of intrigue for fans eager to see the actor switch between two contrasting personas.
Ratta Thala star-studded cast
Apart from Arun Vijay and Siddhi Idnani, the film boasts an ensemble cast including Tanya Ravichandran, Yogi Samy, John Vijay, Hareesh Peradi, and Balaji Murugadoss.
