Deputy Director of UP Information Department found dead under suspicious circumstances in Fatehpur

Sudhir Kumar, 56, Deputy Director of the Information Department working in the Fatehpur district, was found dead under suspicious circumstances, police confirmed on Wednesday. His body was discovered in a drain near the residence of former Chief Justice of India VN Khare in the Georgetown area.

Police, who reached the spot on receiving information, have taken the body into their custody. Authorities said that the cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report.

Sudhir Kumar lived in Durga Nagar, Mahewa, Naini, with his wife Ambalika, daughter Aditi, and son Vaibhav. On Tuesday afternoon, he went out alone on foot, and his body was found late at night in the drain.

His family came to know about the incident on Wednesday through his mobile phone activity.

Upon receiving the information, his family identified the body at the post-mortem house. Police stated that several items, including a liquor bottle and a packet of snacks, were recovered near the site. Authorities suspect that he may have drowned, but are investigating how he reached Georgetown and whether anyone accompanied him.
