“May you become the reason for joy in every home in Bihar.” These were the words of Rohini Acharya, daughter of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, as she wished her brother Tejashwi Yadav a happy birthday on November 9.
Rohini also posted a set of family photographs featuring Tejashwi and their mother, Rabri Devi. Tejashwi, positioned at the centre, was seen wrapping his arms around his mother and sister. In another frame, he was affectionately kissing Rohini’s forehead.

It all seemed perfect until a humiliating election defeat brought long-simmering tensions into the open.
On November 14, as the Election Commission began counting votes in the high-stakes Bihar assembly contest, the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan quickly fell behind the BJP-led NDA.
By afternoon, the trend had stabilised, with the NDA crossing the 200-seat mark.
At 1:34 pm, a concerned Rohini Acharya posted on X, urging party workers to remain at counting centres and not treat “confusing” trends as final results, noting that only a few rounds of counting were complete. By evening, the RJD’s defeat was unmistakable. The Mahagathbandhan ended with just 35 seats, while the NDA surged to 202.
VIP chief Mukesh Sahani conceded defeat; Congress leaders, including Pawan Khera and Rahul Gandhi, also acknowledged the loss.
But all eyes were on Tejashwi Yadav, the alliance’s chief ministerial face, who maintained an unusual silence.
The next afternoon, speculation grew that Tejashwi might address the media. Instead, a dramatic post by Rohini around 2:30 pm jolted political circles.
“I’m quitting politics and I’m disowning my family…,” she wrote. Minutes later, she edited the post, adding: “This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do…nd I’m taking all the blame’s (sic).”
Sanjay and Rameez are among Tejashwi’s closest aides. Soon after, Rohini told reporters she had been “thrown out of the house” for questioning the party’s defeat.
“The entire party is asking why we lost. But people like Sanjay and Rameez are avoiding the questions. If he (Sanjay Yadav) wants to be Chanakya, then it is Chanakya who will have to face the questions,” she said.
In a series of emotional remarks, she added, “I no longer have a family. Ask Sanjay Yadav, Rameez, and Tejashwi… They removed me from the family because they don’t want to take responsibility for the loss. If I take the names of Sanjay and Rameez, I get thrown out of the house, insulted, and beaten with slippers…,” she said, adding, “may no house ever have a daughter like Rohini.”
On Sunday, Rohini again took to social media, alleging abuse and humiliation at her parents’ home.
“Yesterday, a daughter, a sister, a married woman, a mother was humiliated, with filthy abuses, and someone even picked up a slipper to hit me. I did not compromise on my self-respect, I did not surrender the truth, and only because of this I had to endure this humiliation.”
She said she was told she had given a “dirty kidney” to her father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, in return for an election ticket.
“Yesterday, along with abuses, I was told that I am dirty, and that I gave my “dirty kidney” to my father, that I took crores of rupees, that I got a ticket and then gave that dirty kidney… To all daughters and sisters who are married, I want to say: if there is a son or brother in your ‘mayka’, then never—even by mistake—save your father, your God-like parent,” she wrote.
Tej Pratap hits back, calls it “unbearable”
In an emotional response, her brother Tej Pratap Yadav condemned the alleged humiliation, warning “traitors” for targeting his sister.
“What happened to me — I endured it. But the insult done to my sister is absolutely unbearable under any circumstances,” he said in a statement shared by his party, Janshakti Janta Dal on Instagram.
He appealed to his father, saying, “Just one gesture, and the people of Bihar themselves will bury these traitors.”
Rohini also names her sister-in-law
Rohini also named her sister-in-law Rachel Yadav, clarifying that she has cut ties only with Tejashwi, not with her parents or sisters.
“Whatever I had to say, I have said on my social media. I have not lied about anything that happened. Rohini jo bolti hai sach bolti hai (Whatever Rohini says is the truth). You may go and ask all of this to Tejashwi Yadav, Sanjay Yadav, Rachel Yadav, and Rameez,” she told reporters late Sunday, emphasising that her parents had supported her through the ordeal.

Three other sisters leave Patna home
After Rohini left for Mumbai to stay with her in-laws, her sisters, Rajlakshmi, Ragini, and Chanda, along with their children, were seen leaving Patna airport for Delhi.
