Tourism operators have expressed disappointment over the renewed travel advisories issued by the US, UK, Canada, and France, warning their nationals against visiting Kashmir following the car bombing near the Red Fort in Delhi.

Those engaged in the tourism trade believe that such advisories would further hit tourism in the valley, which was already facing bad days after the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April, in which 26 tourists were killed. Efforts of the government to revive tourism after the Operation Sindoor have also remained futile.

The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advisory in particular has asked its residents not to visit the tourist spots in the Kashmir valley, including Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Srinagar and Sonamarg.

Exceptions have been made for traveling by air to Jammu and eastern Ladakh.

An advisory has also been issued against travel to various parts of Pakistan following the recent terror incident in Islamabad.

FCDO has advised against all travel to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province and Balochistan, where frequent militant violence has been reported.
