Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday chaired a review meeting with officials of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department and other concerned departments to assess the progress of the proposed modern de-addiction and rehabilitation centre at Kotla-Barog in Sirmaur district.

He said the upcoming centre would have a capacity of 100 beds and be equipped with modern facilities such as a library, gymnasium, and sports infrastructure. It would also include provisions for skill development and vocational training to help recovering individuals reintegrate into society.

The centre will have a dedicated team of doctors, nurses, and trained staff to provide medical care, counselling, and rehabilitation services.

Deputy Commissioners of Solan and Sirmaur participated in the meeting virtually. The Chief Minister directed them to expedite the transfer of land from the Animal Husbandry Department to the Social Justice and Empowerment Department for setting up the facility.

He reiterated the state government’s commitment to tackling the menace of drug abuse through a coordinated and multi-pronged approach focusing on prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.
