Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati will convene a key National Executive meeting in Lucknow on October 19, signaling a strategic revival of the party ahead of the upcoming elections in 2026 and 2027.

The meeting will be attended by senior party leaders, including Vice-president Akash Anand, national coordinator Ramji Gautam, Randhir Beniwal, Siddharth Gautam, National General Secretary Satish Chandra Mishra, and National Vice President Anand Kumar.

In a significant move, Mayawati asked party officials, especially those linked with Uttar Pradesh (UP), to dedicate time both to their designated states and to UP. The Executive is also set to decide the BSP’s participation strategy for upcoming state assembly elections, including whether the party will contest independently or form alliances in various states.

One of the major highlights of the meeting was the planning of Mayawati’s campaign events in Bihar.

According to party insiders, she may address public meetings in 6 to 7 constituencies bordering UP where the BSP has previously seen electoral success. The party believes it can perform again in these areas.

Mayawati also discussed her and Akash Anand’s increased political activity in UP. She announced that following her birthday on January 15, she would begin ground-level reviews of organizational work. She plans to make surprise visits to booth committees across the state to assess their preparedness. Additionally, cadre training camps are expected to be organized.

Akash Anand is set to take a central role in the BSP’s election efforts in UP and other states, with a focus on intensive campaigning post-Bihar elections. His schedule will include rallies and public meetings across the country.

Earlier during the party meeting on Thursday, Mayawati expressed gratitude for the success of the October 9 event and instructed all district, divisional, and booth-level workers to thank their respective teams. She also laid out clear guidelines for her upcoming birthday celebrations on January 15, stating there would be no public cake-cutting ceremonies. Celebrations are to remain private, while public programs will be organized at the district level.

In a rare and sharp political attack, Mayawati criticized Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad. Referring to allegations by Dr. Rohini Ghavri, who accused Chandrashekhar of sexual exploitation despite him being married, Mayawati questioned his character and commitment to the Dalit movement. She urged party workers to remain cautious of such individuals who could undermine the Bahujan cause.

Dr. Rohini Ghavri, the daughter of a sanitation worker from Indore and currently employed at a government hospital, studied in Switzerland and was in an alleged relationship with Chandrashekhar for three years. She has been vocal on social media about her allegations.

On the political front, Mayawati laid out a strategic roadmap to regain power in 2027. According to her, BSP’s core Dalit vote base of 20% is now consolidated. By adding 10% support from extremely backward castes and another 5% from Brahmins, Muslims, and Rajputs, she believes BSP can secure the required majority.

The overwhelming turnout at the October 9 rally has visibly boosted Mayawati’s confidence. A party insider noted that she conducted the two-hour-long meeting with a rare display of warmth and positivity, leaving the cadre energized.

The Thursday meeting concluded with three primary directives: Complete the formation of all booth and brotherhood committees by January 15, 2026; review the performance of these committees; and replace inactive members and esure full mobilization of party machinery ahead of the upcoming elections.

As political temperatures rise ahead of 2026 and 2027, the BSP appears to be gearing up for a major push to reclaim its political space, with Mayawati and Akash Anand leading the camp.
