Unidentified men on a motorcycle allegedly opened fire at a lawyer in Dayalpur in Northeast Delhi while he was heading to court, Delhi Police said on Thursday.

The lawyer’s family informed the police at Karawal Nagar station around 8:30 am, while neighbors rushed him to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.
“He was immediately admitted to GTB Hospital for treatment. Doctors are currently attending to him, and his condition is reported to be stable,” said the officer.
The assailants, he said, fired at least 10 to 12 rounds of bullets at Shrikant while he was driving his grey Hyundai i10 through a narrow lane near Nala Road on his way to the Karkardooma court.
Video footage of the crime scene showed that three to four shots were fired at the front of the car as the assailants approached it from the opposite direction.
“Bullet holes are visible on the driver’s side of the car’s windshield. The assailants allegedly fired a few more rounds as they passed the vehicle, shattering the rear side window,” the officer said.
The police are currently reviewing CCTV footage and working to ascertain the motive behind the attack.
A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act at the Karawal Nagar police station.
Teams from Karawal Nagar and the Northeast District operations unit have been deployed to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the crime. The investigation is ongoing in this matter.
