The Kashmir-based Chinar Corps of the Indian Army said that “Based on specific intelligence input by J&K Police and corroborated by sources and agencies, regarding a likely infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and Police in the Machhal Sector. Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged, which resulted in terrorists opening indiscriminate fire. Troops responded with effective fire, neutralising two terrorists. Large quantity of weapons and equipment recovered”.

The Operation is in progress.
Meanwhile, intelligence reports indicate that a large number of trained terrorists were waiting at the launch pads for infiltration before the snowfall on the infiltration routes.
The security forces have heightened vigil along the LoC and the International Border with Pakistan.
