Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji has carved a special place for herself in the film industry. Born into a film-oriented family, her late father, Ram Mukherjee, was a respected director, and Rani stepped into the world of acting as a teenager, beginning her professional journey at just 16 or 17. From that early start, she has gone on to create a career spanning more than three decades.
What sets Rani apart is her constant curiosity and eagerness to learn. She calls herself a “student of cinema,” always observing, listening, and absorbing new ideas. Whether she is on set working with a director, collaborating with the cinematographer, or simply traveling and watching people, she gathers inspiration for her craft.

Over the years, Rani has shown remarkable versatility in her roles. She has effortlessly moved from intense drama to lighthearted romance.
While she continues to shine as an actor, the idea of stepping behind the camera as a director is something she hasn’t dismissed.
Speaking to ANI, she said, “Never say never. I know when I will be ready to direct. Right now, I am very happy being an actor and being directed.”
Rani’s connection to filmmaking runs deep through her family ties. She is married to Aditya Chopra, one of Bollywood’s top filmmakers, and her late father-in-law, Yash Chopra, was a legendary director. So, it is not surprising that the possibility of directing is something she keeps open for the future.
But for now, her focus remains on performing and delivering memorable experiences to her audience.
Fans have another reason to celebrate Rani’s return to the big screen. She will reprise her iconic role as police officer Shivani Shivaji Roy in ‘Mardaani 3’, directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by Aditya Chopra. The film is going to release on February 27, 2026.
