Bollywood’s beloved superstar Shah Rukh Khan is all ready to light up Gujarat as he takes on the role of host for the 70th Filmfare Awards. He will be joined by popular TV host Maniesh Paul and filmmaker Karan Johar.
Filmfare made the announcement on their official Instagram. They called Shah Rukh “The Superstar, The Icon, The Enigma,” and teased fans to “hold your hearts” for the event. The awards ceremony will take place on October 11, 2025, at the EKA Arena near Kankaria Lake in Ahmedabad.

The decision to bring India’s most prestigious film awards to Gujarat was made official in August. Then a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Gandhinagar between the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL) and Worldwide Media Private Limited, in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

The agreement was signed by TCGL’s Managing Director Prabhav Joshi and Rohit Gopakumar from Worldwide Media.

Chief Minister Patel highlighted the significance of the event, unveiling the iconic Filmfare Trophy, the Black Lady, during the announcement.
He said that Gujarat, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, has gained new momentum in economic, social, and cultural development. The state has become a preferred destination for entertainment investments. Patel also noted that the film industry can play a key role in promoting Swadeshi (indigenous products) and Atmanirbharta (self-reliance).
The awards ceremony is going to generate employment opportunities, increase business for local vendors. This is also going to encourage the production and consumption of local goods.
The Chief Minister emphasised that hosting such a prestigious event in Gujarat aligns with the national call for “Vocal for Local”. This promotes indigenous products and services while celebrating India’s thriving entertainment industry.
