Telangana High Court has dealt an unexpected blow to the fans of actor-politician Pawan Kalyan and his much-anticipated movie, ‘OG’. The court recently suspended the Telangana government’s order that allowed ticket prices for the film to be increased for special shows and premieres.

‘OG’, written and directed by Sujeeth, stars Pawan Kalyan alongside Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi, Priyanka Mohan, and Arjun Das.

The suspension came after a petition by Barla Mallesh Yadav, who challenged the government’s move to permit higher ticket prices. Speaking about the court’s decision, Yadav explained, “We have challenged the memo by the Principal Secretary Home, Telangana, where the government allowed ticket prices hike by Rs 100 in single-screen theatres and Rs 50 in multiplexes.”

The move to increase ticket prices is usually a trend in the Telugu film industry for high-budget movies with major star power. Producers often argue that the extra charges help recover massive production costs during the first few days of release, a period that is crucial for box office success, especially when the film has high anticipation from fans.

With that, fans across the country, especially in Hyderabad, are already gearing up for the premiere shows. Long cutouts of Pawan Kalyan are outside theatres. And, supporters have been cheering in large numbers.

While the High Court’s decision has temporarily paused the ticket price hike, it is unlikely to affect the enthusiasm of the fans or the initial turnout at theatres. In fact, the buzz around the premiere shows already indicates that the film is ready to witness a massive opening.
