The ‘Namo Yuva Run’ drew lakhs of participants in cities across India on Sunday, spotlighting the call for a drug-free nation.

As part of the ongoing Sewa Pakhwada campaign marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, the BJP organised early morning runs at 75 locations across the country.

The mega initiative was announced by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) on September 7, saying the marathon was focused on spreading awareness about fitness, health, and social responsibility.

In the national capital, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, National Secretary Alka Gurjar, Union Minister of State Raj Bhushan Choudhary, and Delhi BJP Yuva Morcha State President Sagar Tyagi jointly flagged off the marathon.

Speaking to the reporters at DU’s North Campus, Tiwari said, “Today, we organised a big marathon in Delhi, invited people, and a good number of youth participated in it. This is organised under Sewa Pakhwada to mark PM Modi’s birthday.”

Encouraging the residents to make the society drug-free, he called on the people of Delhi to defeat intoxication. Through this five-kilometre marathon in the city, he said, “We have to make people aware of fitness and health.”

Union Minister Raj Bhushan Choudhary also called on people to participate in the marathon in large numbers. “Through this marathon, our objective is to make India free from obesity and addiction so that the younger generation could contribute to building a Viksit Bharat in the future,” he said.

India’s economic capital, Mumbai, also saw similar enthusiasm. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya, and several other party leaders participated in Sunday’s mass run. Actor and fitness icon Milind Soman, who has been named the brand ambassador of the event, also joined the campaign, lending his presence to inspire youth.

Carrying the message of healthier, drug-free, and stronger India, massive runs were launched in BJP-ruled states, including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Tripura, and Uttarakhand.
