Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi visited the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), where he held discussions with Director Prof. Amit Patra and later addressed students, faculty members, and staff at the ABLT-4 auditorium.
In his keynote address, Admiral Tripathi lauded the century-old legacy of IIT (BHU), describing it as an institution that has, “generation after generation, produced engineers and IT professionals who have propelled India’s technological and industrial progress to new heights.”

Highlighting India’s maritime importance, he pointed out that “95% of the nation’s trade, 85% of crude oil, and 99% of internet data flow through sea routes.” Calling the “Blue Economy” the “second IT sector,” Admiral Tripathi described it as India’s next major growth engine.
Emphasizing the Navy’s critical role as “the maritime shield of the nation,” he cited examples of safeguarding merchant vessels worth $4 billion along the Red Sea route, providing humanitarian assistance, and carrying out daring rescue operations.
Appealing to students, the Navy Chief encouraged innovation in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, advanced materials, and cybersecurity, stressing that “the Navy’s future capabilities will rely heavily on indigenous solutions.”
Sharing lessons from his leadership journey, Admiral Tripathi underlined values of honesty, courage, humility, and selfless service. Quoting Swami Vivekananda’s famous words, ‘Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached’,he urged students to live by the mantra ‘Dream, Dare and Deliver.’
