12 Indians killed in gas plant explosion at Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City
The deceased are of Indian and Pakistani nationalities, although the exact number of Indian casualties remained unconfirmed.

The main accused, Rahim, in the case related to the death of a NEET aspirant in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur was injured in a police encounter on Wednesday.
According to police, the incident took place around 2 PM on Ramkola Road in Kushinagar district. Police confirmed that Rahim sustained bullet injuries in both legs and has been taken into custody.

According to Gorakhpur SSP Raj Karan Nayyar, the encounter was part of a joint operation by the Pipraich Police (Gorakhpur) and Kushinagar Police. Along with Rahim, three other individuals have also been arrested in connection with the case.

One of them, Ajab Hussain, was caught by local residents and later handed over to police. He is currently receiving medical treatment. Two others, identified as Chhotu and Raju, have also been apprehended. Efforts are ongoing to locate two additional suspects who are believed to be involved.
The incident that led to the investigation occurred on Monday night when a conflict broke out between some individuals allegedly involved in cattle smuggling and local residents. During this altercation, a student preparing for the NEET medical entrance examination was taken away under suspicious circumstances. The student was later found dead at a location approximately four kilometers from his residence. His body was discovered by family members several hours later.
Following the incident, SSP Raj Karan Nayyar took prompt action and suspended Jungle Dhusan police outpost in-charge Jyoti Narayan Tiwari along with four constables, citing negligence. A departmental inquiry has been launched against the personnel of the entire outpost.
On Tuesday night, Additional Director General (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash arrived in Gorakhpur to assess the situation and coordinate the investigation. The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has also been deployed to assist with locating and arresting the remaining suspects.
