Demi Lovato is ready to turn up the volume and head straight for the dancefloor. The singer has officially announced her ninth studio album, ‘It’s Not That Deep’, which will drop on October 24 under DLG Recordings/Island Records.
The new project marks a fresh chapter for Lovato, who has been teasing fans with a new sound over the past few weeks. She already released two singles from the album: ‘Fast’ and ‘Here All Night’. Both of which hint at her return to upbeat, carefree pop music.

The album will feature 11 tracks and is executive produced by Zhone. Talking about the project, Lovato shared how this record reflects her present state of mind. “This music is a perfect reflection of where I’m at today. I had such an incredible time making this album with Zhone, and it was such a freeing experience to let loose and have fun with it,” she said.
For fans who know her past work, the shift is striking. Lovato has often written raw, emotional songs exploring pain, struggle, and healing. But this time, she says life feels lighter.
“With my past eras, I often wrote cathartic music about heavy topics that I needed to process. When I got back in the studio this time, those songs just weren’t resonating anymore because I’m not in that place in life. I’m happy, I’m in love, and I just want to enjoy life and have fun. I realized it’s not that deep anymore, and that became the ethos for this album.”
As the name suggests, ‘It’s Not That Deep’ isn’t about heartbreak or inner battles. Instead, it’s designed for “late nights and dancefloors,” a soundtrack for good times with friends. Lovato added, “I can’t wait for you all to dance with me.”
Fans first got a taste of this new energy when she dropped ‘Fast’ last month. The music video is equally bold. It shows Lovato strutting through a fiery scene with cars ablaze while singing, “I wanna go fast / I wanna go hard / I wanna go anywhere, anywhere you are.”
That previous record, ‘Holy Fvck’, came out in 2022 and embraced heavy guitars and raw vocals. It peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and was followed by a 34-date tour with support from bands Dead Sara and Royal & the Serpent.
But music isn’t the only thing keeping Lovato busy. Earlier this year, she appeared in the movie ‘Tow’, sharing screen space with Rose Byrne, Octavia Spencer, and Simon Rex. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in June. And she’s already working on something completely different, a cookbook titled ‘One Plate at a Time: Recipes for Finding Freedom With Food’, set to release on March 31, 2026.
