The Delhi Police arrested a man for allegedly stabbing a teenage girl in northeast Delhi’s New Mustafabad, officials said on Friday.
The victim, who is undergoing medical treatment for the stab wounds she sustained in her abdomen at the GTB Hospital.

As per a statement of the girl, she had been harassed by the accused, Jahan, for days, and on Thursday, he stabbed her after she rebuffed him.
“She was returning to her brother’s house from a local market when Jahan, a 24-year-old youth, confronted her for a talk on Mangal Bazar Road in the Dayalpur area and allegedly attacked her,” a senior officer mentioned.
According to the doctors attending to her, the condition of the teenager is serious but she is in a stable state.
On the basis of the statement provided by the victim, an FIR was filed, and an investigation was taken up by the officers.
During the investigation, the police got their hands on Jahan and booked him under Section 109(1) (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
“Acting on sustained efforts and intelligence inputs, police tracked down and apprehended the accused within hours of the crime,” the officer said.
He continued by saying that, when the accused was questioned by the officers, he admitted to having committed the crime, and the knife used in the attack was also confiscated.
Amid the probe, it came out that Jahan knew the teenager but she distanced herself from him. Yet, he continued to pester her for a relationship, police said.
A family member of the girl told the police that they had even lodged a complaint at the Dayalpur Police Station earlier, but the matter was settled at that time.
