Indian comedian and International Emmy Award-winner Vir Das is all ready to mark a new milestone in his career. This October, he will become the first Indian artist to headline his own residency at the world-famous Lincoln Center Theater in New York with his show ‘Hey Stranger’.

The two-week run will take place from October 29 to November 9, 2025.

“There is nothing more exciting than being at the bottom of the ladder. You’re surrounded by people better than you, you’re out of your comfort zone, and that pushes you to grow. For me, that’s always been Broadway,” he shared.

This dream now comes alive on 65th Street, home to the Lincoln Center Theater. Vir Das will step onto a stage where some of the world’s most celebrated artists have performed.

The venue has hosted Indian cultural legends such as sitar maestro Ravi Shankar, tabla great Zakir Hussain, shehnai icon Bismillah Khan, and Carnatic music legend M.S. Subbulakshmi.

Carrying that legacy forward in his own way, Vir Das acknowledged the weight of the moment. “Following in the footsteps of legends like Ravi Shankar ji, Zakir Hussain ji, and M.S. Subbulakshmi ji is a responsibility in itself. Comedy may be different from classical music, but at its heart, it’s about connecting people across cultures and finding what we all share.”

‘Hey Stranger’, Vir explains, was born from the idea of connection. “The show is about laughing together, reflecting together, and embracing our shared strangeness. To share that on such a stage, with an international audience, is beyond what I ever imagined when I started out,” he said.
