Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda has advocated for readopting paper ballots instead of EVMs for voting in various elections.

In a brief chat with media persons at the Sanganer International Airport here on Sunday, Hooda hailed the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi’s campaign against alleged irregularities in use of EVMs in polls in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Haryana in the assembly elections. “LoP RahulJi has exposed what (irregularities) were committed in the election in Karnataka, he has also brought forth irregularities in Maharashtra and recently in Haryana”.

He said Gandhi would soon release data and details pertaining to revelations he has made.

The two-time ex-CM said, “More and more political parties have now been advocating conduct of polls replacing EVMs with the paper ballots.

After his arrival here this afternoon on a brief visit, he called on former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot at latter’s Civil Lines residence. He also went to former Congress MLA Suchitra Arya’s residence to condole the death of her son Vishupal Arya.

Hooda and Gehlot, along with some Congress leaders, went to former legislator Krishna Poonia’s residence to condole the demise of her brother-in-law Satish Poonia. The ex-CMs then both flew for Mohangarh in the Jaisalmer district to pay tributes to Jat leader former MP Col Sona Ram Chaudhary who passed away recently.
