The meeting is part of the ECI’s ongoing initiative to engage with national and state political parties. The objective is to facilitate open discussions, allowing party leaders to share their suggestions and concerns directly with the Commission. By doing so, the ECI aims to further strengthen the electoral process within the existing legal framework, ensuring the involvement of all stakeholders.
The ECI has been actively engaging with various political parties over the past 150 days, conducting a total of 4,719 all-party meetings. These include 40 meetings with Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), 800 meetings with District Electoral Officers (DEOs), 3,879 meetings with Electoral Registration Officers (EROs).
These interactions have involved over 28,000 representatives from different political parties, demonstrating the Commission’s commitment to inclusive and transparent electoral processes.
The meeting with the CPI delegation underscores the ECI’s efforts to gather feedback and suggestions from political parties. By engaging with parties like the CPI, the Commission can identify areas for improvement and implement measures to enhance the electoral process.
Some of the key parties that have recently interacted with the ECI include the Bahujan Samaj Party led by Party President Mayawati on May 6, Bharatiya Janata Party led by party president J P Nadda on May 8, and Aam Aadmi Party led by its National Convener Arvind Kejriwal, on May 15.
These exchanges reflect the ECI’s dedication to collaborative governance and its focus on ensuring the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.
