To protect democracy and the right to vote in Bihar, the INDIA Alliance will launch a 16-day ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ from Sasaram on Sunday. This Yatra will pass through 25 districts of Bihar and conclude with a massive public rally in Patna on 1 September.
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, CPI(ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya and other top leaders of the INDIA Alliance will be present throughout the Yatra and will engage with the public.

Speaking to the media ahead of the Yatra, Tejashwi said, “People of Bihar will give a clear mandate to the Grand Alliance and we will form the next government. Leaders of the ruling parties are afraid of the phenomenal support we have been receiving across the state from every section of the society.”
He said that this state-wide tour will sound the bugle against “the Election Commission’s attempt to tamper with voting rights of people of Bihar at the behest of the BJP.”
“I believe it will be a historic Yatra and 14 crore people of Bihar will join us in the fight to protect democracy and voting rights in Bihar. Besides the biased Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the Yatra will unite people of Bihar against the unemployment, migration, poverty, floods, corruption, and bureaucracy plaguing Bihar,” he added.
During the yatra, public meetings, outreach programmes, and various events will be organised to strongly raise common demands of the alliance as well as local issues. Coordination committees have been formed in the districts through which the yatra will pass, and common leaflets and materials are being distributed from the state office for preparations.
The aim of the yatra is to raise people’s voice against electoral fraud and to launch a wide-scale movement across the state for fundamental rights such as employment, education, healthcare, agriculture, and social justice. The alliance has appealed to the public to participate in large numbers and make the event a success.
CPI(ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya asked people of Bihar to support the INDIA Alliance to protect the right to vote. He expressed confidence that this yatra will intensify the fight across the state against electoral fraud and for fundamental rights like employment, education, healthcare, agriculture, and social justice.
