A heated exchange erupted in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council on Wednesday as Samajwadi Party MLC Lal Bihari Yadav clashed with Council Chairman Manvendra Pratap Singh, accusing the government of dodging real issues and mocking the dream of “Viksit Bharat 2047.”

The confrontation began when Yadav complained that the Chairman often interrupted him.

“Had you not interrupted, I would have finished my point,” Yadav said. In response, the Chairman urged him to listen to the Leader of the House.

Yadav, however, stood his ground. “If we are not satisfied with the government’s statements, it is our right to walk out. But after our walkout, there was a discussion against me for half an hour,” he alleged. When the Chairman expressed disbelief, Yadav challenged him to review the footage.

Yadav continued his protest, stating, “If I was absent, then at least God was present. What action do you want against me? Whatever is left, just announce it in the House. I can’t cure your allergy towards me.”

The situation intensified when BJP’s Umesh Dwivedi questioned under which rule Yadav was speaking. Yadav shot back sharply, “We created them, and now they are teaching us?”

Meanwhile, the Council witnessed a series of adjournment motions raised under Rule 105, addressing pressing issues ranging from declining health services to education sector concerns. However, all motions were ultimately rejected for adjournment by the Chairperson, Kunwar Manvendra Singh, who directed that the matters be referred to the state government for necessary action.
