A brazen daylight robbery at a jewellery shop in Hyderabad has left the Congress government in Telangana red-faced as the Opposition alleged a deterioration in the law and order situation since the Congress government came to power. Since the Home Department is currently under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the BRS criticised him for the rising crime graph, particularly in the state capital.

The robbers also beat up the cashier and other staff members demanding them to hand over the gold ornaments. By the time police arrived at the scene, the gangsters had decamped with one kg of silver items on motorcycles. They had covered their faces in masks.

Later, the gang was spotted on the route to Zaheerabad bordering Karnataka. The robbery bid and shootout in broad daylight have sent shockwaves across the city. The Cyberabad Police have formed multiple teams to trace the robbers as the city’s law and order situation and rising crime rate were questioned by the Opposition.

Taking a dig at the “Rising Telangana” motto of the Congress government, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said, “Telangana is rising in crime rate and daylight robberies.”

Other BRS leaders also questioned the law and order situation, citing the recent murder of a CPI leader in Hyderabad during morning hours.
