The government of India has refuted the claims of Indian soldiers being captured by the Pakistan security forces after a video claiming the same went viral on social media platforms.

The video shows a group of soldiers dressed in army uniforms shouting slogans. An accompanying post said, “Pakistani border security forces apprehended few Indian soldiers and only released them after each shouted “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Pak Fouj Zindabad” yet another moment of humiliation for India.”

However, debunking the claim being made through the video, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) debunked this video and called it fake news. Stating that pro-Pakistan accounts on social media are promoting such content with “malicious intent,” PIB’s Fact Check team posted on X:

“Some pro-Pakistan social media accounts are sharing a video that claims that the Pakistan border security forces apprehended a few Indian soldiers and released them after each shouted “Pakistan Zindabad.”

“This is an old video from June 2022 of the Indian Army coming across Pakistani civilians along the border during a routine patrol. The sloganeering that can be heard in the video is by Pakistani civilians and not Indian soldiers. The video is deliberately circulated by Pakistani accounts with malicious intent,” the post added. It further confirmed that no Indian soldier was detained by Pakistan.

Recently, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi spoke about the importance of the narrative management system in the wake of Operation Sindoor. Stating that victory is in the mind, the Army chief spoke about the manner in which Pakistan went ahead to convince its public about its victory. “That is how you influence the domestic population, the adversary’s population, and the neutral population,” he said while addressing a gathering at IIT Madras.

“Narrative management system is something which we realise in a big way because victory is in mind. It’s always in the mind. If you ask a Pakistani whether you lost or won, he’d say, my chief has become field marshal, we must have won only, that’s why he has become field marshal,” he went on to add while subtly trolling Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir’s recent promotion to Field Marshal.

“The Indian forces countered Pakistan’s strategy in their own way, using social media and other platforms to convey their message to the masses. Strategic messaging was very important, and that’s why the first messaging that we did was, justice done. That hit the maximum, I am told, in the world today, the number of hits which we received,” he added.
