Content creator and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia recently sat down with Prafful Garg on an episode of ‘Mission India’, and he had a lot to get off his chest about the latest controversy.

Speaking openly and honestly, Ranveer shared how hurt he was by recent claims from some celebrities who said they had “boycotted” his show.

Ranveer explained that while many stars claimed they turned down invitations to be on his podcast, the truth is that he never invited them in the first place. “It felt like everyone was just piling on,” he said. “Some celebrities claimed they rejected an invite, but we never even asked them. I was upset and angry. Not just with them, but with human nature.”

But instead of holding on to that anger, Ranveer decided to look inward. “I realized that a lot of the trouble I was facing was because of my own actions. I can’t change the past, but I can work on shaping the future.”

Ranveer took an unplanned break after what he described as an “intense” six-year journey in podcasting. The break gave him time to reflect, and he says he’s been working hard to forgive others, and himself.

“I’m trying to move forward now. I’ve been through a lot emotionally, but I’ve also grown. I’ve forgiven many people, including myself, and I think I’ve been somewhat successful at that.”

After stepping away for a while, Ranveer is back in action and hosting new episodes of his podcast. And he’s bringing in big names again. Recently, stars like Boman Irani, Shruti Haasan, and Tara Sutaria have appeared on his show.

About the controversy

Ranveer’s troubles didn’t stop with the celebrity boycott drama. Earlier this year, in February, he found himself caught in a major controversy after appearing on the show ‘India’s Got Latent’. The episode also featured fellow creators Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani. But it was a shocking question Ranveer asked that caused a firestorm.

During the episode, he posed a very disturbing and inappropriate hypothetical question to a contestant, which involved a sexual scenario with their parents. Though everyone on set laughed awkwardly at the time, the internet did not find it funny.

The backlash was swift and serious. Social media users and even politicians spoke out against the show. Several FIRs (First Information Reports) were filed against the show’s makers and those involved in the episode, including Ranveer.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, Ranveer took to X (formerly Twitter) to apologize. In a video message, he admitted that the joke wasn’t just inappropriate, it was completely out of line. “It wasn’t funny. I understand now how wrong it was, and I’m sorry,” he said.
