The Telangana government has appointed a high-level committee to study the report submitted by the judicial commission investigating the controversial Kaleshwaram Project, which was constructed during the previous BRS regime.
The one-member judicial commission, headed by retired Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghosh, recently submitted its report to the state government. On Thursday, the report was formally handed over to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao.

The high-level committee will include the irrigation secretary, law secretary, and general administration department (GAD) secretary. This panel will examine the report and prepare an abstract, which will then be presented before the state Cabinet on August 4.
The Kaleshwaram Project came under scrutiny after structural cracks developed in two of the three barrages. Multiple allegations were made against the project, including claims that then Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had ignored expert advice from engineers regarding the selection of barrage sites.
The National Dam Safety Authority also issued an adverse report on the multi-crore irrigation project, which is alleged to have pushed the state toward financial distress.
After coming to power, the Congress government announced the formation of the judicial commission under Justice Ghosh. The commission summoned several key figures, including K. Chandrasekhar Rao, former irrigation minister T. Harish Rao, and former finance minister Etela Rajender—now with the BJP.
KCR, as Rao is popularly known, appeared before the commission and defended the project, once hailed as the lifeline of Telangana.
