Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav asserted on Tuesday that the BJP state government is fully committed to providing 27 per cent reservation to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) in the state.

On the second day of the ongoing monsoon session of the State Assembly, the CM said that PM Narendra Modi has declared that a proper caste census would be conducted, and its figures would be made public.

The CM also accused the Congress of not carrying out the exercise during its long rule in the country. Dr Yadav said that Congress is now misleading the people by demanding the 27 per cent OBC reservation on the basis of weak and baseless points.

The CM stated that the government values the rights of the SC, ST, and OBCs. He assured that the state government is making strong and valid representations in the court in the matter pertaining to OBC reservation.

Yesterday, the opposition Congress MLAs had staged a ‘chameleon’ protest in the Assembly, depicting the ‘changing colours’ of the BJP state government on the issue of 27 per cent reservation to the OBCs.

They held toy chameleons and placards in their hands, protesting against the state government’s alleged attitude over the OBC reservation.
