Reportedly the Maulana pointed out that the lady MP did not cover her head like other SP MP Iqra Hasan.
The remarks triggered widespread condemnation, with several NDA MPs also coming out in support of Dimple Yadav.
Reacting to their support, the SP MP said it would have been more meaningful if members of the ruling party had shown similar concern over the incidents in Manipur and the controversial comments made by BJP leaders against a woman Army officer.
Speaking to the media, Dimple Yadav said, “It would have been better if they had stood up against the horrific incident in Manipur, which came to light through a viral video on social media. During Operation Sindoor, several senior BJP leaders made objectionable remarks against Army officer Sofia Qureshi. It would have been commendable if these ruling party MPs had stood by her too.”
The investigation into the FIR is currently underway.
