The first season of the series, based on the webtoon by Joo Dong-geun, became a global phenomenon. It racked up more than 560 million viewing hours in just 28 days and climbed into the Top 10 non-English language shows in over 90 countries.
Now, in Season 2, the story picks up with Nam On-jo, the high school student who made it out alive. Actress Park Ji-hu returns to play On-jo, who is now a university student in Seoul.
But just when life seems like it might be getting normal, the nightmare begins again. A new zombie outbreak hits the city, and On-jo is once again in the middle of it all, fighting to stay alive while carrying the scars of her past.
Several new characters are joining the cast this time around. Lee Min-jae, Kim Si-eun, and Yoon Ga-i step in as tough college seniors who have figured out their own ways to survive the chaos. They’ll be important allies, or rivals, as the city falls deeper into danger.
Another interesting addition is Roh Jae-won, who plays Han Du-seok, a key member of the National Intelligence Service. His arrival suggests that the government is now more deeply involved in the outbreak, which could mean secrets, experiments, or even new dangers.
Fans will also be happy to know that some familiar faces are returning. Characters like Cheong-san (Yoon Chan-young), Nam-ra (Cho Yi-hyun), and Su-hyeok (Lomon) will be back. Their lives after surviving the Hyosan High School outbreak will be explored, showing how they’re coping, and what they’ll do now that the virus is spreading again.
Behind the scenes, the original creative team is also returning. Directors Lee JQ and Kim Nam-su are back to guide the second season, and Chun Sung-il, who wrote the first season, is again handling the script.
