Titagarh Wagons Limited, based in North 24-Parganas, acquired part of the land formerly owned by Hindustan Motors and established a new unit of the Titagarh Wagon factory at Uttarpara-Hindmotor.
The factory began by producing spare parts for goods trains, wheels, as well as EMU and metro rail coaches. A significant portion of the original Hindustan Motors site remained unused and lay barren. The state government subsequently took possession of this land with the aim of establishing job-generating industries. On Monday, 40 acres of this land were leased to Titagarh Rail Systems Limited as part of their expansion plan to manufacture Metro rail and Vande Bharat coaches. A dedicated track for coach testing will also be constructed on the extended premises.
