A day after a bomb threat to three schools in the national capital turned out to be a hoax, St. Thomas School, a private school in Delhi’s Dwarka, and St. Stephen’s College of Delhi University received similar emails, the police said on Tuesday.

Both the school and college have been evacuated as a precaution before the Delhi Police, along with the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), Cyber Crime Unit, Dog Squad, Delhi Fire Service (DFS) team, and Special Staff team, initiated a thorough search on the premises.

The search was on while going to the press even as nothing suspicious has, so far, been found on the premises as informed by a senior officer.

He said, “Bomb disposal squads and police teams were swiftly deployed at the locations while launching a large-scale search operation. However, nothing suspicious has been found.”

On Monday, three schools in Delhi, including Navy School in Chanakyapuri, CRPF School in Dwarka, and another in Rohini, received similar threat emails.

Ankit Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka), said, “At around 8 am, we were informed about the bomb threat at the CRPF school, as well as another school in Chanakyapuri.”

“The area was promptly sanitised. Local police, accompanied by the Bomb Disposal Squad and sniffer dogs, reached the school and conducted due checks,” he further said.

The officer continued by saying, “Cyber Police experts are ascertaining the source of the email. However, the school security has been strengthened. Nothing suspicious has been found until now.”

Furthermore, the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) officer said they received calls from the Navy School in Chanakyapuri at 8.15 am and from the CRPF School in Sector 16 in Dwarka at 8.25 am informing them about the situation.

The Delhi Fire Services said a fire tender was rushed to each of the schools. “It was declared a hoax after a thorough check by multiple agencies, including the fire department,” a fire official said.

“Responding to it, a team was immediately dispatched to the locations,” the fire service officer added.

Several schools in Delhi have received similar bomb threats in the past one year. More than 200 schools in the city received bomb threats in May 2024, followed by similar email threats to several hospitals, colleges, and the Delhi airport.

In January this year, too, several schools in Delhi reported receiving similar emails containing bomb threats.

According to the statement of senior officers in this matter, most of the emails were sent using virtual private networks (VPNs).

They have previously stated that the business model of VPN works on the principle that the server won’t disclose the location or details.
