Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday announced that the national capital is fully prepared to welcome Kanwariyas this year, with an unprecedented surge in applications to set up Kanwar camps across the city.

“There is a special spirit of service among the people of Delhi toward the Kanwariyas, which is why 374 applications have been received to set up camps, a significant increase from the 170 applications received last year,” she said.

Speaking at a high-level review meeting to assess the Kanwar Yatra arrangements, the Chief Minister said that most of the applications have already been approved, and the remaining will be cleared shortly.

The meeting was attended by Ministers Ashish Sood and Kapil Mishra, along with senior officials from departments involved in managing the Kanwar Yatra, and members of the committee established specifically for organizing the camps.

According to an official statement, the Delhi government has made the application process more transparent and efficient by implementing a single-window clearance system.

“Now, institutions no longer need to approach multiple agencies. Permissions are being granted within 48 to 70 hours,” the statement read.

Gupta also highlighted other support measures and financial aid offered by the Delhi government, including the provision of 1,200 units of electricity free of cost for each camp and round-the-clock sanitation services managed by the government.

On medical preparedness, she said, “Health teams have been deployed at the camps and will coordinate with nearby hospitals to ensure timely medical services.” Traffic, police, and MCD arrangements have also been finalized in advance to avoid any inconvenience.

The Chief Minister further informed that the government has committed to reimbursing grants to camp-organizing institutions on a 50-50 basis — 50 per cent before the event and 50 per cent afterward.

“The government is ready, and as soon as the final list is received, the first installment can be disbursed at the click of a button,” she said.
