Expressing serious concerns over waterlogging in several parts of the city following heavy rain last night, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta on Thursday issued strict instructions to concerned officials to implement effective measures to prevent the problem so that residents do not have to face inconvenience during the rainy season.
She also expressed satisfaction in the fact ath despite heavy showers, no water logging was reported from traditionally problematic zones like Minto Road and ITO junction this time and instructed the officials to display the same level of efficiency across the entire city.

To address the issue of water logging and public inconvenience caused by it, CM Gupta had convened a special meeting with PWD Minister Parvesh Verma and senior officers of concerned departments.
She made it clear that any negligence in dealing with issues related to waterlogging would not be tolerated.
Gupta directed the officials to take immediate and effective measures during the rains to mitigate the problems caused by water accumulation.
She acknowledged that the government is aware of the difficulties of the public in the wake of water logging, adding that she had been constantly receiving reports of traffic disruptions and prolonged travel times.
She emphasized round-the-clock monitoring by departments and coordination between different departments for a collective and effective response.
The CM asserted that the departments must work in unison to promptly tackle the issue and minimize the impact.
She expressed satisfaction over the improved performance at Minto Road Bridge and ITO this year, both the places well known for heavy water-logging in the past.
Commending the officers and staff engaged in the work, she said if water accumulation could be prevented in such areas, similar efforts and competence can be shown citywide.
She emphasized the need for stormwater drains along the roads to regularly inspect and clear wherever blockages are found.
To ensure smooth flow of rainwater, the CM called for a special attention to clean small drains and culverts, as they play an important role during the period.
On the waste management, the CM said garbage on the roadside, along streets, and inside drains adds to the trouble, while regular removal of such waste can significantly help in preventing the issue.
She directed the officials to inspect areas that are prone to waterlogging, even on days when there is no rainfall.
She said senior officials should visit these hotspots, ensure thorough cleaning, and check drainage systems to identify and resolve any obstructions that may lead to future water accumulation.
